We have been working very hard to choose destinations for this year's Summer Day Trips

Feb 2019: As I type this, it's dark and freezing cold outside. Summer seems to be such a long way away. I fondly remember the great days out we had last year, even Thorpe Park which was unfortunately a very wet day, was enjoyable as we were all among friends.

Isle of Wight was so popular last year that we were over subscribed and many were unable to go. So this year, we've decided to have two trips there on different days to allow as many people to go as possible. We would however, like to request that if you wish to visit the Isle of Wight this summer with us, to please choose one of the dates only. This will allow others the chance to go. As the time gets nearer, if seats do become available, we will make them available to purchase for all. So keep checking!

To mix things up a bit, we have also chosen a new destination this year. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park. This is a lovely place that will appeal to families and to those who want to get up close (but not too close) to the wild animals that are in residence there.

We've also got our two ever-popular destinations, Eastbourne and Bournemouth. As per usual, we've chosen to go on the weekends on which the airshows take place. You will see from last year's image galleries what a spectacle these events are as aircraft from WW1 – biplanes and triplanes are on display along with the latest technology-laiden aircraft used by the military in conflict zones throughout the world.

As always, we don't have any control over the weather or traffic conditions etc…, so in these cases, the WLKPA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a day trip at any time due to conditions beyond our control. We will aim to give you at least twelve (12) hours notice by telephone and/ or email if we have these. Refunds may also be issued for cancellations if proof of ticket purchase(s) is/are provided.

Day trips may also be cancelled due to poor ticket sales in which case notice shall be given as per above paragraph.

Each WLKPA patient, NHS west London renal staff or member of WLRTC is permitted to purchase up to six tickets to bring family, friends or carers.

* Groups that attend any day trip without a patient / NHS west London renal staff or member of WLRTC must pay an additional surcharge of £7.50 per ticket payable by purchasing the appropriate tickets listed on the relevant webpage.

If purchasing tickets for Longleat Adventure and Safari Park, please state if the patient is bringing a carer. We will aim to purchase a concession rate ticket for one accompanying carer.

We will always aim to leave and arrive on time and request your cooperation by ensuring you and your group (if applicable) are at designated meeting points on time. In certain cases there may be delays and your patience is appreciated. We haven't left anyone stranded…yet!

A general list of things you may want to bring with you:

  • a picnic or camping chair to get the best views along the beach.

  • a hat for the sun or rain!

  • camera or binoculars

  • your medication(s)

  • sun cream

  • wear weather-proof clothing (we can't guarantee the weather on the day!)

  • sunglasses

  • a sweater (it can get chilly if the sun isn't out!)

  • comfortable shoes

Above all, we want you to have the best time during these day trips, stay safe and be punctual! Lol.
